GKR Karate club members have raised an exceptionally generous $19,500 to help people experiencing family violence.
The club organised a Purple Belt Month fundraiser during which they sold purple belts and members of all ages wore their purple belts to classes. Proceeds from the belt sales were donated to Shine, with the total far surpassing expectations!
The Shine team would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful GKR Karate members who created, organised and got behind Purple Belt Month, including our own Dr Emma Barker-Clarke.
The club’s generous efforts have resulted in an amazing donation which will help make New Zealand homes safer.
The fundraising event has been such a success that GKR Karate are planning to run it again next year. We look forward to continuing to work with GKR to help people impacted by family violence and thank them for their whole-hearted support!
If you’re feeling inspired and want to join us in making a change, we’d love to have more passionate fundraisers like GKR Karate on board. Every bit of support counts.
