Recognise, Respond, Support: Practical Workplace Responses to Stalking has been developed by the Ministry for Women in partnership with Shine, and in collaboration with Human Resources New Zealand.
The new workplace guide was launched on Thursday, 23rd July by the Minister for Women Nicola Grigg, who spoke alongside Shine’s Holly Carrington and others at a launch event in Wellington. (Holly is pictured above second from right, standing with representatives from Human Resources NZ, the Ministry for Women CE and Secretary for Women Kellie Coombes, Minister for Women Nicola Grigg, and Chief Victims Advisor Ruth Money.)
Holly said, “Employers can make a huge difference to the wellbeing of employees who are stalked. But without the right knowledge and tools, responses can be ineffective—or even unsafe. The guide we’ve created with the Ministry for Women and with input from others including HRNZ, can help provide the knowledge and tools that employers need.”
“We appreciated that the Ministry worked very collaboratively with us on this project, and showed a huge amount of respect for our expertise and experience in this specialist mahi.”
The guide provides practical resources for workplaces including how stalking can affect employees and workplaces, conversations to support and respond to disclosures, information on specialist support services, on the stalking law and guidance on strengthening workplace safety processes.
