In-person open First Responder training coming back to Wellington 22 July 2025 – spread the word

07 May 2025

As demand and engagement with DVFREE gradually increases, there has been a call to provide open First Responder training in-person in Wellington once again, meaning individuals can register to attend this training to be held on 22 July in Wellington CBD

We have not offered this training in-person in Wellington since before responding to COVID restrictions by offering online training. However, Shine and most training participants would agree that the in-person training experience is a better learning experience, so we’ve continued to offer in-person training in Auckland, and we’re excited to bring this offering back to Wellington.

‘First Responder’ is the DVFREE term for workplace peer support volunteers, who we train to support work colleagues experiencing family violence or managers with a team member experiencing family violence. The training also helps prepare First Responders for supporting a workplace response to employees who use family violence.

The training is part of DVFREE’s recommended workplace system response that also includes a robust family violence policy, good information for staff about family violence and support available, and training for managers.

Please spread the word to anyone you know in the Wellington area who might be interested in this training!
